Good design must be functional, long-lasting, and beautiful.
If it's functional, it will be well used. If it's long-lasting, it will be a good investment. If it's beautiful, it will touch your spirit.
I am a professional landscape architect (PLA) in State College, Pennsylvania. I work for Penn State's Campus Planning + Design division and maintain a private practice. I'm also a Penn State alumnus ('94 Landscape Architecture) so it's especially rewarding to be working for my Alma mater and living in Happy Valley.
My work has been diverse in size, scale, and location such as small residential planting plans, estate master plans, healing gardens, park master plans, and of course countless University landscape projects.
I focus on design solutions that strive to connect people with each other and with their environment. My design approach is not constrained by a certain style, but instead is shaped by the unique character of the site and the particular needs of the client. Whether the objective is to develop vibrant and memorable public spaces or create calming and restorative private retreats, my professional responsibility is to represent the best interests of the client, the health and well-being of the user, and the ecology of the site.
I can provide a wide range of design services to suit your needs and your budget that include quick conceptual sketches on site, exploration of different schematic design solutions, color rendered drawings to support fund-raising, or detailed drawings for bidding and construction.
Most projects begin with an initial consultation visit. If it requires more design time, I will prepare a proposal for review that outlines the scope of design work, what drawings are needed, and my estimated time and fee. I engage my clients throughout the design process so that their unique vision, needs, and budget for a project are met.
My involvement in a project does not stop at the drawing board, however. I recommend being involved during the bidding process and during the construction of the project to oversee the work and help ensure that the original design vision is carried through to the last detail.
Give me an hour and I'll change the way you look at your property.
